We worked alongside the Glenboig Development Trust to deliver the regeneration of the existing Glenboig Life Centre into a vibrant new hub owned by the local community and home to a variety of new and existing community services. Funded through community action and supported by North Lanarkshire Council and RCGF, a number of stakeholders were involved in the project.
The works included the construction of a new build 8m high single storey extension circa 900m2 along with reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing building to provide a more flexible, multi-use space with function rooms, a community fruit and vegetable outlet, a gym, post office, cycle hub, shop, café and children’s play area as well as the base for the community transport service.
As the Post Office and community shop located within the existing centre had to remain fully operational throughout the works, we phased the planned works to allow them to remain in-situ for as long as possible prior to using a temporary facility, ensuring fully segregated public pedestrian access to ensure all visitors could access this area in complete safety.
