Working with South Ayrshire Council to provide an innovative early years centre along with upgrading the existing school transforming this into a modern learning environment. The school remained fully operational throughout all elements of the project, delivered in sections to minimise the impact of the project.
Section 1 created the adjoining extension, comprised of a steel frame with timber in-fill, a composite panel roof with solar PV array, curtain walling and blonde brickwork with all associated external drainage, services and decoration. Works to form a link corridor were also delivered within section 1 alongside the creation of a covered outdoor learning space.
We created a new plant room to house the auger fed biomass boiler and pellet store which was to service both the new extension and as a replacement to the existing oil boiler which provided heating and hot water for the existing school. Combined with the PV system, the new facilities were A-rated.
Section 2 of the works were the reconfiguration and upgrade of the existing school building providing fresh and vibrant classrooms, combined gym hall and dining room, new commercial kitchen and renewal of all services and connection to the new biomass system.
External works included drainage re-alignment, new pumps and new connection, perimeter fencing, new surfacing and hard and soft landscaping around both the extension and the existing school.
